So, a couple days ago for the first time ever since Kali was a puppy .. she peed on the kitchen floor. We always try to get her to go outside from time to time .. and most of the time she doesn’t want to go out. Usually all she does, is goes by the sliding door & scratches at it to tell us that she wants to go out. I’m thinking maybe since she got her amputation, she’s not able to do this anymore?
Then yesterday, she did the same thing.. once in the kitchen, in the hallway, & on her blanket. I’m really not sure what’s going on? We do manage to get her out sometimes & she goes #2 just fine. She’s eating twice a day & has water at all times. It’s been 9 days post amp & she gets up fine & acts like she’s okay.
Wondering if anyone has any thoughts on this?
My best guess is she is still trying to get used to life as a Tripawd. Also, depending on what meds she is on (i.e. any steroids, pain meds), those can sometimes make them pee more than normal. I would say keep trying to get her putside as much as possible. Sometimes Ginger wants us to go out with her for moral support.
Could be totally unrelated or loosely related with recent tripawdism, but maybe a bladder infection? I would call the vet and have a urinalysis done.
When she pees in the house, does she squat and pee? or does she just sort of go?
I would also go on the forums and ask there. You will reach more people and get more responses than you will on your blog.

Do you have steps leading outside? Those might be the reason why she’s nervous to go outside. When my rott Diesel came home from the hospital post op from his rear amp (just over Xmas 2010) he peed inside once too because of the pain meds. Once those tapered off he was MUCH better. Although, he didn’t like the stairs off the deck either, but once he realized we would help him up he was ok-Good luck!
